What do I need to do before I can start driving?
You need to be at least 17 years of age and if you have not already done so, apply for a provisional license from the DVLA. You can do this online or by getting an application form from the post office. It is also worth having an eyesight check, but in any event, ensure you can read a standard car number plate at 20.5 metres.
How much are driving lessons with an "On Fire For Driving" driving instructor?
Driving lessons are preferred block booking 11 hours for £200 then £20 per hour after that runs out.  Other Driving schools will offer fabulous prices to entice you with special offers but at On Fire for Driving we believe our pricing structure is suited best for our clients with a standard price across the board which we will keep low and still provide an excellent quality of service.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Continuity of driving lessons is important and On Fire For Driving recommends that you have between 2 and 4 hours per week. You will also progress much quicker if you have two hour lessons each time.
What is the cheapest way of booking my driving lessons?
You should take advantage of our discounts, which are available on block-bookings. These generally apply on 10 hours or more.  Also pre booking lessons allows you to book your instructors diary in advance.
How many driving lessons will I need to take?
The number of lessons required varies from student to student and is dependent on many factors, such as age availability and learning style. Your instructor will, however, monitor your progress with our individual learning plan "Track Record" and keep you fully informed.
We achieve higher results than the DSA average of 42 hours Instructor training with 20 hours private practice to compliment tuition.
Do On Fire For Driving offer intensive driving courses?
Yes we do offer intensive driving courses. These can be anything from one week upwards. Undertaking an intensive course will depend on several factors, such as previous experience and whether you have passed your theory test. If you want to go ahead, we will arrange a two hour driving assessment and advise you of your best route to test.
Do I need to pass the Theory Test before I can start my driving lessons?
No, and in fact it may be better to learn the theory whilst having practical lessons. You will however need to pass the theory test before applying for the practical test.
What should I study to pass the Theory Test?
On Fire for Driving recommends Focus DVDs and books which contain sample DSA questions and hazard perception clips. These can be purchased cheapest from Amazon "Click Here"
Where do I take my Theory Test?
There are several theory test centres across the UK. Locally to Ayrshire we recommend the Ayr Theory Test Centre.  If booked direct from this link you can be sure it is not a third party booking service which can charge an extra admin fee.
What type of car will I be learning in?
To provide Continuity across "On Fire For Driving" We have opted for a new 2012 Citroen DS3 D-style Plus.
After test driving various other makes and models we believe we have found the most amazing Instruction car, Our Dual control DS3 offers amazing visibility and supreme comfort when learning to drive.  It is definitely fit for purpose as an instruction vehicle.
